PANEL PRESENTATION • DISCUSSIONS • RECEPTION • FOOD • MUSIC Just after the attack on the World
Trade Center on September 11, 2001, Congress passed the USA
PATRIOT ACT I. And now, the Department of Justice is expected
to introduce PATRIOT II which would further erode our civil
rights in the US. Meanwhile, in Japan, the Koizumi administration
has resurfaced the controversial ‘Yuji hou’ bill
which also curtails Japanese civil rights and liberties and
expands militarization. How do these bills impact our daily
lives here? What does it mean for our friends and families
in Japan? How is US domestic and global “war on terrorism” being
used against ordinary citizens? Share your concerns and connect
with people acting to resist these bills in the US and Japan.
Please help spread the word. Please
print out the flyer (flyer
in Japanese)and post it at your work place, school, and other
community centers.
